The Supervisory Electronics Technician plans, organizes and directs the operations of an electronics shop; supervise the work of electronics technicians in calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, design modification and/or development of complex electronic equipment. Supervises and applies technical knowledge to solve problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers' manuals or similar documents. Supervises and performs technical tasks to assist engineers with electronic systems.
-Oversees and directs technicians performing equipment repairs and overhaul.
-Supports efforts to plan, procure, fabricate, remove, install, and complete all mechanical and electrical work efforts.
-Performs equipment removal, cabling, connecting, electrical equipment installation, equipment overhauls, fabricating and assembling electronics subassemblies, and calibration checks on electronic instruments.
-Troubleshoots and oversees electronics systems to determine cause and remedy for malfunctioning, conducts routine engineering tests, keeps equipment/parts inventories, and assists with general lab work.
-Provides on-site installation support. Organizes and updates technical documentation.
-Continues to develop working knowledge of all operating standards, practices, and procedures, including safety procedures.
-Tracks work progress and updates equipment status and accounting records.
-Troubleshoots, repairs and rests components on Circuit Card Assemblies
-Installs and removes wiring harnesses and electronic components from equipment chassis.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
HS & 2 yrs of in an industry trade school or civilian college in electronics. Completion of an appropriate military “A" school and completion of at least one appropriate military “B" or "C" school may be substituted for the two year requirement; Associate’s or higher in EE, CE, CS, TM, IS, IRM, IT or Physics.
8 yrs recent C4ISR or other relevant experience in troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, installation and de-installation of electronic systems, equipment, components, antennas, cables, cableways, waveguides and ducts, while using logic analyzers and digital oscilloscopes.
